Preparing Your Plants for Winter

Cold months are already on the threshold and if you would like to keep your soil and plants safe and sound, you should definitely be ready to them. Long summer is over and your garden definitely needs summer vacation. Read the following guide and find out the best ways to prepare your plants for winter:

Winter garden

  • make sure your evergreens have enough water for winter. The soil should be very moist, I mean you plant should spend cold months with the highest moisture concentration possible;
  • spread any type of compost over your beds – thus you will protect them from freezing;
  • take care of garden hoses – drain and roll them and store indoors;
  • clean all your garden tools and keep them in order during winter;
  • put all plants you can indoors;
  • get rid of dead plants debris and make soil as clean as possible;
  • cut of dead foliage from evergreen plants;
  • screen some young and small evergreens from severe winter winds.
