Hydroponics has already taken plant growing to the next level. Frankly speaking, those who have never been interested in gardening, can’t resist it now, since it is rather tempting and easy to grow plants without soil.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Hydroponics

There are both advantages and disadvantages of hydroponic gardening. The pros are the following:

  • smaller spaces for growing;
  • less growing time required;
  • easy to fulfill – since no special skills are needed and you can forget about weeding, fertilizing and digging;
  • less infection possibilities;
  • all nutrients are recyclable;
  • better quality of growing plants;
  • environment free gardening;
  • higher yields since you don’t have to take care of rotating crops;
  • accurate nutrient level;
  • huge money saving process!

Advantages and Disadvantages of Hydroponics

But everything is not that great and hydroponics has some very important disadvantages:

  • rather high initial set up cost. Not all farmers can offer such expenses;
  • in order to get successful results growers should have at least some basic knowledge and skills;
  • since in a hydroponics system all plants share the same nutrient, diseases can spread as a wildfire;
  • sometimes hot weather and limited oxygenation influence production negatively and it may lead to drop in crop.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Hydroponics

That is why you have to understand what it is all about and whether to start hydroponic gardening or not!
